With the support of the Provincial Science and Technology Department, the Provincial Federation of Industry and Commerce, Guangzhou University and other related organizations, the Guangdong Development Research Institute (GDRI) of Guangzhou University and the Guangdong Economists and Entrepreneurs Association (GDEEA) jointly set up the "Guangdong Top 500 Enterprises in Innovative Capability Sorting Office" to carry out the sorting work and release the activities on the innovative capability of Guangdong enterprises based on the basic standard of high and new technology enterprises, and by integrating other operational indexes and factors of the enterprises. Based on the basic standard of high-tech enterprises and other business indicators and factors, the office will carry out the sorting work and release activities on the innovation capacity of Guangdong enterprises. The selection indexes of the list include enterprise invention patents, copyrights, level of R&D centers, ability to transform scientific and technological achievements, and power of high-tech talents (associate high and above), etc. It is a comprehensive mapping of high-tech enterprises in Guangdong. There are more than 20,000 Guangdong high-tech enterprises included in the selection, among which 134 enterprises in Guangzhou and 130 enterprises in Shenzhen are selected, and the enterprises in Guangzhou and Shenzhen on the list account for more than half of the total number of enterprises.
